Period & Pause is a community interest company dedicated to better understanding of periods, menstrual health and menopause. Meet the person leading our work and discover what we hope to achieve.
Director
Amy Collins
Amy became Director because she cares deeply about giving menstrual education the attention it deserves. Her earlier work with the Metropolitan Police and in the magistrates' and family courts brought her alongside people at difficult moments, and showed her how much a little basic health knowledge can help.
She believes understanding our bodies is for everyone. That includes the boys and men who live, learn and work alongside people going through periods and menopause.
“Sex is a consensual choice. Periods are not. Basic menstruation education deserves its own space, not just a passing science lesson.”
Our mission
To make menstrual and menopause knowledge ordinary.
We want young people to understand their bodies, employees to feel supported at work and adults to know where to find reliable help. As a community interest company, income is reinvested into reaching settings that could not otherwise afford us.
Information you can trust
Everything we share is checked against current UK health guidance and explained in words a Year 6 pupil can follow.
Every question is welcome
Sessions can be mixed or separate, whatever suits your school. Nobody is ever made to feel awkward for asking or for not knowing.
Everyone belongs
We adapt for SEND, faith settings, trans and non-binary pupils, and we warmly include boys, who will one day be partners, friends, colleagues and dads.
Support that lasts
We leave staff notes, handouts and follow-up support, so the conversation can carry on after we've gone.

Now
Give the basics the time they deserve
We'd love to see menstrual education taught as its own topic, with proper time set aside, rather than squeezed into a single science or sex education lesson.
Next 12 months
Reach 100 settings a year
Grow our work across London schools, youth groups and councils, with bursary places so that cost never stands in the way.
Next 3 years
Support the adults too
Expand Educator Training and Menopause at Work so every setting has confident staff and a menopause policy that genuinely helps.

Openly share our resources, findings and lesser-known facts so others can benefit from them too.
